ESPN wants you to know why Tim Tebow's pass fell incomplete

Chris Chase, USA TODAY Sports
Tim Tebow was sweaty before Monday night's game.

Tim Tebow threw one pass in the first half of Monday night's game against the Houston Texans. How did it turn out? ESPN's ticker felt the need to be as specific, and excuse-filled, about it as possible:

The crawl was accurate; Jason Hill did drop the ball. But the next time your favorite quarterback throws an interception that deflects off a receiver's hands or your team's point guard misses a three-pointer because there were two hands in his face, see if those technicalities merit an explanation on the Bottom Line.

Other excuses ESPN was considering for the crawl:

• "Tebow: 0-1 (Read Ezekiel 39:3 to Hill in the huddle." (New ticker segment) "Adam Schefter reports verse says 'Then I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows drop from your right hand.'"

ESPN's excuse-filled Tebow ticker

• "Tebow: 0-1 (Took throwing lessons from Ichiro this week)"

• "Tebow: 0-1 (See's Lazarus parallels in Mark Sanchez's career)"

• "Tebow: 0-1 (Saving his first Jets touchdown pass for marriage)"
