Blue chipper James Young signs to play Kentucky hoops

USATODAY
Kentucky coach John Calipari continues to sign high school blue chippers. A week after getting a commitment from the Harrison twins he got James Young out of Michigan. All three are guards.

John Calipari doesn't rebuild or reload at Kentucky. He just stockpiles.

Just a week after getting the Harrison twins to commit to Kentucky, the Wildcats have now gotten a nod from another blue-chipper in 6-6 guard James Young.

Ranked the No. 8 recruit in the nation by Rivals.com, Young played for Rochester Hills (Mich.) Rochester High.

"Kentucky has always been my dream school," said Young.

Andrew and Aaron Harrison, also guards, are No. 3 and No. 4 on the rivals list.

Scout.com recruiting analyst Evan Daniels told Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader that Young will "be a good complement on the wing with Aaron...Aaron is a guy who can score in a variety of ways. James is not quite as equipped from a mid-range standpoint, but he's so good at slashing to the basket and rebounding and doing some other things, that I think it would be a pretty good fit."
