The deputy in Mayberry has no greater fan than the former coach of the Orlando Magic.

Stan Van Gundy, known as a man with many opinions, says he'll talk rationally about any subject excepting one.

Talking to radio host Dan LeBatard on 790 The Ticket, Van Gundy says he's a late night TV watcher and that includes The Daily Show, Everyone Loves Raymond, Bill Maher, Law & Order and MASH. But he reserves special love for The Andy Griffith Show.

"Never been a better show on TV,'' said Van Gundy. "The single greatest character in TV history is Barney Fife. I've thought about this -- Klinger on MASH -- they're has been some good ones. But Barney Fife is the single greatest ever on TV."

Van Gundy adds that "on this one I'm not ever open to discussion." If he want to talk greatest basketball player he'll listen to you but it is "Barney Fife hands down. Nobody has a chance of talking me out of this one."
