95-yard touchdown run highlights big start for Oklahoma (VIDEO)

Oklahoma running back Damien Williams rushes for a touchdown against Texas during the first quarter.

In football parlance, this is known as the Diamond formation. Three backs in the backfield: one lined up four yards (give or take) behind the quarterback and another pair one step ahead, flanked to either side of the deep back.

Nebraska has put this formation to good use over the last year-plus, starting with last season's win over Ohio State. The Sooners' Diamond formation features a slight tweak: OU puts quarterback Landry Jones in shotgun, combining the Diamond with a Pistol look.

Watch Oklahoma's offensive ingenuity rip off yardage against rival Texas… to the tune of a 95-yard touchdown run by Damien Williams, a former junior college transfer who has been OU's best running threat over the year's first five games.

That run, the longest in Red River Rivalry history, gave OU a 13-2 lead after the first 15 minutes of this year's Red River Rivalry. A short touchdown run by Blake Bell gave OU a 20-2 lead less than three minutes into the second quarter.

Oklahoma began its next drive with a 73-yard pass from Jones to fullback Trey Millard -- a gain that had much to do with horrific UT tackling as OU's wise play call. As evidence of the Longhorns' pitiful tackling, watch Millard hurdle and pinball off of two defenders:

Bell capped that drive with another score, his third of the game, to give the Sooners a commanding 27-2 lead with 9:41 left in the half.

Through the game's first 21 minutes, OU outgained Texas 315 yards to 13. The Sooners had 14 first downs. Texas? Zero. Just through 21 minutes, the Sooners have the longest run (Williams' scamper) and pass play (Millard's catch) in the program's Red River Rivalry history.
