Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill suffered a seizure in the locker room after the Golden Gophers' loss to Northwestern, the university announced in a release.

"Kill was immediately attended to by team medical personnel before being transported to a local hospital by ambulance as a precaution. He is currently alert and resting comfortably," the release said.

Kill had already met with members of the news media when he had the seizure, the third he has suffered since taking over at Minnesota last season.

On Sept. 12, 2011, Kill was taken from the field in an ambulance after experiencing a seizure with less than a minute left in Minnesota's loss to New Mexico State.

He had another seizure three weeks later. Following that seizure, what Kill estimated to be his 20th over the previous three weeks, he checked into the Mayo Clinic to seek further treatment.

Kill also suffered an on-field episode in 2005, when he was the head coach at Southern Illinois.

Minnesota expects to update Kill's status on Sunday.
