Nationals fans receive e-mail with World Series ticket offer

USATODAY
Washington Nationals fans react after the St. Louis Cardinals took a 9 - 7 lead during the ninth inning of Game 5 of the 2012 NLDS at Nationals Park.

Watching your team blow a six-run lead to lose the NLDS is bad. Watching your team blow a six-run lead to lose the NLDS then receiving an e-mail with an offer for World Series tickets is worse.

That's what happened to some Washington Nationals season ticket holders who received an e-mail at 7 a.m. on Saturday with an exclusive offer for tickets to the World Series.

Oops.

Nationals season ticket holders received an email with an exclusive offer for World Series tickets ... after the Nationals lost in the NLDS.

Dan Steinberg of the DC Sports Bog points out that the email was sent by MLB, not the Nationals.

MLB Advanced Media CEO Bob Bowman, via a tweet from Steinberg, explained, "It was a stunningly stupid error on our part and we apologize to the Nationals and their great fans."

The St. Louis Cardinals scored four runs in the ninth inning to beat the Nationals 9-7 in Game 5 of the NLDS. The Cardinals will face the San Francisco Giants in the NLCS.
