Baseball playoff team don't have Sportsbooks sweating

USATODAY
San Francisco Giants center fielder Angel Pagan (left), left fielder Gregor Blanco (center), and right fielder Hunter Pence (right) celebrate after game two of the 2012 NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals at AT&T Park. The Giants defeated the Cardinals 7-1.

Sportsbooks in Las Vegas want to make sure they don't break a "Cardinal' rule this year.

Some bettors were able to get the St. Louis Cardinals at 500-1 last season when the team was slumping only to wake up and win the World Series.

This year the Cardinals were kept between 12-1 and 20-1 although they were at 35-1 for a brief period.

And it seems none of the teams are keeping linesmakers up at night this year.

The Giants were 50-1 at one point but William Hill oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro told Jason Logan of covers.com that "we got most of the bad ones out of the way. The Giants would be a small nick."

Aron Black of bet365.com said the Tigers were 18-1 and the Yankees always have a loyal band backing them but says that "of all the teams, no one is a real bad result. Detroit and New York are both losing positions, but not for any great deal. It's been a great season for trading the MLB outright book. We have had money on numerous runners who did not make the playoffs or went out early."

Bet365.com currently has Detroit at +110 (bet $100 to win $100) followed by St. Louis (=225), San Francisco (+350) and the Yankees (+1,100).
