Oracle's $10 million America's Cup boat capsizes in San Francisco Bay (VIDEO)

Oracle's $10 million boat capsized near the Golden Gate Bridge.

A $10 million, 72-foot catamaran being sailed by America's Cup champion Oracle Racing capsized in San Francisco Bay on Tuesday.

The boat was practicing for next year's competition. None of the 11-person crew was injured.

The boat's tactician said the AC72 was bearing away when it pitchpoled due to 25-knot winds and an ebb current. We have no idea what that means either, but it sounds pretty complicated. Let's attempt translation:

AC72 = Oracle's boat designation standing for "America's Cup 72-feet"

Bear away = turn from wind.

Pitchpoled = flip stern over bow.

Stern = rear of boat.

Bow = front of boat.

25 knots = 12.8611111111 mph

Ebb current = a tidal current away from the coast

Translation: While turning to get away from 12 mph winds and a current pushing away from San Francisco, the back of Oracle's 72-foot America's Cup catamaran flipped over the front and capsized. (BOOM! Accepts high-five from Dennis Conner.)

"We've been pushing the boat all the time and every day we go out we're pushing it more and more," tactician Tom Slingsby said to reporters. "We found our limit today."

The boat made it back to shore early Wednesday morning.

"A strong team will bounce back from (this)," said skipper James Spithill. "This won't stop us winning the America's Cup."

Apropos of nothing, Team USA appears to consist predominantly of Australians.
