Catcher nails it with stickers for Tim Lincecum

Hector Sanchez uses the common practice of coloring his nails -- here with stickers -- so his signals can be easily seen by Tim Lincecum.

ST. LOUIS -- Orange would have been more color-coordinated, but Giants catcher Hector Sanchez is going with yellow on his fingernails in NLCS Game 4 tonight.

Sanchez appears to have opted for little stickers rather than nail polish in his attempt to make his signals easier for pitcher Tim Lincecum to see.

Catchers often paint or otherwise brighten their nails, especially in instances when shadows or lighting in stadiums make it difficult for pitchers to determine the number of fingers the catcher is using to call pitches.

Of course, it might not hurt to plant the idea in opposing hitters' minds that maybe the pitcher's eyesight isn't all that good, either.

Sanchez, who has become Lincecum's personal catcher for most of Lincecum's starts this season, is making his first start of the NLCS.
