'The worst football team in Britain' highlights soccer squad that lost 55-0 (VIDEO)

Chris Chase, USA TODAY Sports

Unhappy with the way your favorite team has played this season? You'll feel better after watching this short British documentary on Madron FC, known as the world's worst football team.

In 2010, Madron lost 55-0 to a team from Cornwall. The epic loss caused the British press to dub Mardon the "worst team in the world." An opposing player scored 10 goals in that game.

Madron went winless on the year and was outscored by 407 goals. The margins are so great and the ineptitude so vast that this seems like a piece of performance art (I keep waiting for Joaquin Phoenix to pop out from behind a fence.) But the documentary, which was shot in May for Britain's Channel 4 as part of an online series teaching teens about resilience, is worth the watch:

The story got better for Madron last season when the team beat Storm FC 4-3. That squad was made up of mostly new players, with some remaining from the 2010 team.

"'The lads went crazy at the final whistle, and why not?," manager Alan Davenport said at the time. "It was a big win for them. It's been a long time coming for this club and was a proud moment."

A member of the world's worst football team.
