Ryan Lochte's bonehead 'GameDay' moment

Scott Gleeson, USA TODAY Sports
Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte was on ESPN's 'College GameDay' on Saturday in Florida.

Having guest analysts on ESPN College GameDay is a good idea most of the time.

Unless it's Ryan Lochte, Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer and creator of the dumbest catch phrase ever.

The ESPN GameDay crew was in Gainesville, Fla., for the Saturday's Florida-South Carolina matchup and Lochte, a Florida alum, was a guest picker.

As expected, his analysis was nothing special.

Also expected, he said something really dumb.

When asked to pick who'd win between Texas A&M and LSU, he nonchalantly answered "Auburn."

Enter awkward pause for GameDay crew.

They calmly reminded Lochte they weren't picking the Auburn game and pointed to some notes he had on set.

Lochte even tried to sound smart in his answer, by saying, "I think they're going to end their six-game losing streak in the SEC so I'm going to have to go with Auburn."

The is he serious? look on Lee Corso's face was priceless.

To recap, Lochte was asked to choose between A or B. He picked C.

It was a true bonehead moment, like this. Here's the footage of Lochte's gaffe below. Thanks Big Lead Sports for the video assist.
