Giants accidentally sell Hunter Pence's broken bat

USATODAY
Giants right fielder Hunter Pence hits a double against St. Louis in Game 7 of the NLCS.

Maybe it isn't B.B. King's "Lucille" but Hunter Pence's "Fryer" also made some beautiful music.

And the Giants star wants to be reunited.

Unfortunately the broken bat that he used to hit that magic cue-ball base clearing double in Game 7 was sold for $400 to a fan at the From the Clubhouse game-used merchandise stall.

"....I'd like it back," said Pence about the bat he named "Fryer" and one he also used to hit a playoff homer.

And Andrew Baggarly of csnbayarea.com writes that there could be a happy reunion.

...Greg Marinec, a longtime account manager with the Giants, said one of his season-ticket holders left him a message Tuesday morning.
"He was very excited," Marinec said. "He purchased the bat and said he wanted Hunter to have it. He was very serious about it."
Marinec wasn't sure if he should wait until after the season to pursue the bat, so as not to distract Pence as he prepares for the World Series. But given all the history and meaning behind that piece of splintered lumber, expect phone calls to be made in a hurry.
