Giants jump to avoid batting practice hit (VIDEO)

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, USA TODAY Sports
Giants starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong won't be getting too many high fives for his batting practice line drive on Wednesday.

Several San Francisco Giants players felt a sense of urgency while warming up for Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night -- specifically, an urgency to get out of the way of the projectile screaming toward them.

A mob of Giants scattered like a flock of pigeons when pitcher Ryan Vogelsong belted a line drive in their direction.

Third baseman Pablo Sandoval, second baseman Marco Scutaro center fielder Angel Pagan and left fielder Gregor Blanco were among those to book it -- and it's hard to blame them for the reaction.

Pro tip for Vogelsong: It's best not to take out the NLCS MVP before the World Series. But kudos on the nice BP rip.

Thanks to USA TODAY Sports' Simon Samano for the video.
