Florida promises 3 TD win with ad in Georgia's student paper

The SEC is adorably old-fashioned, whether in its style of play (defense-first, which is always in vogue) or its commitment to tweaking fierce, longtime, bitter rivals in any way, shape or fashion.

I've also begun to notice that the SEC is still into newspapers, which is decidedly old-fashioned.

Newspaper advertising, to be precise. Earlier this year, after its SEC debut, Missouri took out an ad in Georgia's student newspaper thanking the Bulldogs for being so darn sweet:

"Our thanks to all of you Georgia Bulldog fans! What a terrific bunch of visitors you were – Friendly, gracious and fun. We don't like to lose around here, but both of our teams played an undeniably exciting and awesome game! You gave us an unforgettable first game in the SEC, and we thank you for that. We hope you enjoyed your visit to mid-Missouri and look forward to seeing you next time."

But not all SEC-themed newspapers ads are so adorable – actually, I would say that Missouri is the first (and likely the last) SEC team to put together an ad that doesn't attempt to demean a conference rival.

Take this one, for instance, put together by Florida and placed in Georgia's student newspaper.

You know what Saturday is, right? It's Florida and Georgia, in Jacksonville, Fla., for the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Hence the biting nature of the ad, which touches on Georgia's weak record against ranked teams, ghastly record against Florida (4-18 over the last 22 years) and disappointing defense.

"Give it up! Your bite is weaker than your bark! Try again when your team learns to block and tackle," said the ad, predicting a three-touchdown victory.

Personally, I think Georgia wins on Saturday. That's just me.
