Tom Coughlin thinks Cowboys Stadium has a homer timekeeper

Chris Chase, USA TODAY Sports
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin argues a call in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys at Cowboys Stadium.

It's been all but forgotten that the Dallas Cowboys still had 10 seconds left on the clock after Dez Bryant's go-ahead touchdown was overturned Sunday, giving Tony Romo two more plays to try for the win.

At least that's what Giants coach Tom Coughlin figured. On deep throws, it usually takes more than 10 seconds to run two plays. Somehow, Dallas managed to run three, a fact which didn't go unnoticed by Giants coach Tom Coughlin.

"I must say it's been a long time since I've seen three plays in 10 seconds," he said, according to the New York Daily News. "That was an incredible thing that happened there."

(Whispers: I THINK HE'S BEING SARCASTIC.)

The first two plays took a total of 10.1 seconds, which theoretically supports Coughlin's belief. One-tenth of a second is hardly reason to complain though. The clock does appear to start late on the first snap, but it also runs long after Jason Witten goes out of bounds, so who knows what the actual timekeeper was doing.

NFL officials reviewed the tape and found no errors in timekeeping, thus proving Tom Coughlin's internal timekeeping is always a bit skewed.
