Thunder players sing off-key in local Oklahoma car commercial (VIDEO)
If it's NBA season, it must be time for hilarious local advertisements featuring basketball players.
Take it away, Oklahoma City Thunder players shilling for Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge:
The official Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram commercial MVP ballot:
5. Thabo Sefolosha
The Swiss player, as he does in games, started but was sidelined early and made a minimal contribution. Wasn't the James Harden trade supposed to increase his playing time?
4. Nick Collison
If there were an MVP for not blinking, Collison would have been the runaway choice.
3. Serge Ibaka
The hat made me think his singing voice would have been better, but he more than makes up for it by saying "You can do it, Perk" in his distinct, deep, Congolese/Spanish accent. It's the "can I write a check?" for 2013.
2. Reggie Jackson
Look at the picture of Jackson at the top of the post. No one is supposed to be that happy doing a local car advertisement. (And he can hold a tune too!)
1. Kendrick Perkins
One day, when Grantland does an oral history of this advertisement, I look forward to reading the real story behind Perkins' role as the cranky straight man. Was it in the script or was it born out of real-life reluctance to sing the catchy "ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh" jingle? For now, the mystery makes it even more interesting.
