Through nine weeks of the NFL season, Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, his replacement in Indianapolis, have striking statistical similarities:
Peyton Manning, 5-3 record, 2,404 passing yards
Andrew Luck: 5-3 record, 2,404 passing yards
Amazing, isn't it?
Then you throw in the stats of Tim Tebow, the man Manning replaced in Denver:
Tim Tebow: 0-0 record, 32 yards
Okay, it's not numerically eerie at all, but with the Jets on a bye week, we had to meet our quota of Tebow references for today.
The statistical similarities between Luck and Manning end with record and passing yards. Manning has more completion in fewer attempts, double the amount of Luck's touchdowns, two fewer interceptions and a passer rating that's nearly 30 points higher. But Luck's dazzling start and Peyton's quick return to form make the situation a rare win-wins for both franchises.
Oh, by the way, if the season ended today, Manning and the Broncos would host Luck and the Colts in a wild-card game.
