Watch: 2012 Giants feted with video fit for champions

Gabe Lacques, USA TODAY Sports

As the San Francisco Giants grinded their way to the National League West title, overcame 2-0 and 3-1 deficits in the NL Division Series and Championship Series, and then swept the Detroit Tigers in the World Series, two words kept popping up from various provinces of the Bay Area blogosphere:

Where's Ashkon?

Sergio Romo lets the confetti rains down on him during the Giants' victory parade.

The Bay Area musician gained more than a bit of notoriety in 2010, when the Giants won their first San Francisco title and he produced a solid and virally-inclined video set to Journey's Don't Stop Believin'.

There was video silence from Ashkon through the Giants' playoff run this year, leading some to wonder if he'd given up on such frivolity.

Of course he hasn't.

Ashkon has reemerged with a fabulous celebration video, using Queen's We Are the Champions, and leveraging footage from the club's victory parade. Once again, his production is very fan-centric, and shows what can be done even within the limitations of not having access to actual game footage.

He did, however, use the game-winning radio calls from the Giants' three playoff clinchers. You may notice the first two calls are from Hall of Fame honoree Jon Miller. The final out of the World Series? That was called by Dave Flemming, the youngest member of the broadcast crew. That he was at the mic for it is one of the better back stories of the World Series.

Enjoy the video.
