Mike Francesa dozed off on the air again (VIDEO)

The original video of Mike Francesa falling asleep on air is like one of better movies from the Judd Apatow school of comedy: It's funny the first time you watch it, but it's not until repeated viewings reveal previously-unseen subtleties that the true brilliance is revealed.

Francesa dozed again on Wednesday and while it's not as hilarious as the last time -- he slowly closes his eyes and then jolts awake right as the eyelids touch -- but it's worth the watch.

Francesa's defiant attitude over his last on-air doze makes this even better. Watch this clip of two prank calls in the aftermath of the last mini-nap and see how angry he gets:

He makes fine points in his defense, even if the defensiveness is unnecessary. You fell asleep! It's funny! Take the hits for a day, make a joke about yourself and nobody will remember.

Say what you want about Rick Reilly (and Will Leitch did in this excellent Sports on Earth piece), but at least he was able to respond to his embarrassing on-camera moment with some self-deprecation. After his pathetic begging of Stuart Scott to promote his "breaking news" tweet after Monday Night Football went viral, Reilly tweeted, "Ohhhh ... that's what the little red light means?"

If Francesa had played off his moment with a joke and some playful jabs at himself, it would have been forgotten. Until then: still hilarious.
