Washington Nationals phenom Bryce Harper just won the National League rookie of the year award.

But his girlfriend, Kayla Varner, may have topped him. She scored BYU's eighth penalty-kick attempt in a shootout against Marquette to send the top-seeded Cougars to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.

Harper, 20, was at the game in Provo, Utah, supporting Varner and said it was "one of the craziest games" he's seen in a long time.

Varner is from Las Vegas and was named the 2009 and 2011 Nevada High School Player of the Year.

She is currently a sophomore at BYU.
