Orioles prospect receives sad news about Hostess closing

The Baltimore Orioles may have a reason of concern with the development of pitching prospect Kevin Gausman.

With the recent announcement of Hostess Brands shutting down all operations and selling all company assets, Gausman will soon be without his crutch that made him a the No. 4 pick in the June draft -- powdered donuts.

That's because Gausman has an odd ritual of eating Hostess powdered donettes before every start and in between innings.

When he learned of the news, he tweeted: "Ok I need to go out to every grocery store and get Powdered Hostess Donnetts pronto!!!! Can't believe they are going out of business#Sadd"

The Orioles signed the right-handed pitcher to a $4.23 million signing bonus. So he has plenty of money to stock up while the donuts are still available.

The former LSU star said the eating habit began in the seventh grade and continued through college.

Hostess donettes.

He started six games and pitched 15 innings last season in High-A and Low-A combined and struck out 13 batters. He was recently ranked as the Orioles' No. 2 prospect by Baseball America is projected to be a front-end starter for Baltimore in the years to come.

Maybe he should invest in Dunkin Donuts.
