Detroit Lions coaches have heated exchange on sideline (VIDEO)

The tensions are boiling over in 4-6 Detroit.

Late in the Lions' 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers, wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson got in the face of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to yell about wide receiver Titus Young.

The lip readers at the Detroit Free Press think Jefferson yelled, "take him out, I can't do it no more," which suggests that the anger was less at Linehan than the erratic Young, who was unsuccessfully targeted twice on the previous possession.

Stafford had just thrown four straight incompletions to give the ball back to Green Bay with 1:13 on the clock. Jefferson yelling at Linehan is the "highlight" of the clip, but the schadenfreude of the close-up shot of a dispirited Matthew Stafford is not to be discounted. It's how I imagine most Georgia fans will look in two weeks at the SEC championship when Alabama scores its 35th point of the first half.

The Free Press reports Young was benched for the final three Lions plays of the game.

"I'd rather not go into it," head coach Jim Schwartz said of the incident. "Everybody was disappointed not to be able to score a touchdown on that last drive."

You'd rather not get into it? I'm sure you'd rather not have lost, but here we are. It happened. Let's get into it, Jim, albeit in a calmer way than Shawn Jefferson and Scott Linehan.

Hopefully the colleagues shake hands and bury the hatchet. So long as they don't take tips from Schwartz on how to do so, expect this to be smoothed over by the time the Lions take the field against the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving.
