Ravens' Jacoby Jones ends interview with Michele Tafoya by saying, 'Thank you, gorgeous'

Nate Davis, USA TODAY Sports
Michele Tafoya is in her second season as NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' sideline reporter.

Jacoby Jones had already made the play of the night, so why not drop the line of the night, too?

The Baltimore Ravens' return man extraordinaire took a punt 63 yards to the house in the first quarter at Heinz Field, a play that ultimately proved decisive in a 13-10 victory over the archrival Pittsburgh Steelers while giving Baltimore a two-game lead in the AFC North.

NBC Sunday Night Football sideline reporter Michele Tafoya interviewed Jones after the game, and he mentioned the team's emphasis on the return game in practice while giving thanks to his blockers. Tafoya then tried to set up the Ravens-Steelers rematch in Week 13.

Tafoya: "The next time you have these guys is just two weeks away at your place. What do you expect it to be like?"

Jones: "Well it's gonna be tough. But you know we got San Diego first, so that's where our mind's at right now — San Diego."

Tafoya: "Congratulations, Jacoby."

Jones (with a wink thrown in for good measure): "Thank you, gorgeous."

Tafoya didn't miss a beat, offering a quick laugh before turning the interview to Ravens cornerback Corey Graham as Jones jogged off the field.

In today's viral environment, reaction to Jones' comment will likely range from playfully complimentary to demeaning and sexist and everything in between.

From this cheap seat, the remark seemed fairly innocuous and devoid of any subtext beyond Jones trying to inject some humor into the broadcast. But no one in this cheap seat has ever served as a female correspondent covering a testosterone-driven league.
