Has Fireman Ed had enough with the Jets?

Simon Samano, USA TODAY Sports
Fireman Ed, a fixture at Jets games, leads his signature "J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets Jets!" chant earlier this season. Is he done, though?

Has anybody checked on or heard from Fireman Ed in the last 24 hours? We're worried about the guy.

Per ESPNNewYork.com, we learned Friday that Ed Anzalone, the most famous New York Jets fan in America, might've reached his breaking point during Thursday night's 49-19 shellacking to the New England Patriots.

It got so bad for Fireman Ed that he left at halftime. And it turns out that his Twitter account was deactivated during the game, something that didn't go unnoticed by former Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins.

"Fireman Ed deleted his account?" Jenkins tweeted. "Wow thought he was a diehard fan? Guess he went back to the Dolphins."

Wait, before Fireman Ed became the Jets' unofficial mascot, he was a Dolphins fan?

Apparently this is known by many, but I'd never heard this before, which begs me to ask: Why has this guy been lauded all these years for his loyalty to the Jets?

I'm claiming East Coast bias. There, I said it.
