Darrelle Revis: Jets teammates 'just need to shut up'

Chris Strauss, USA TODAY Sports
New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis hasn't been on the field since September.

The New York Jets' season took a major hit when star cornerback Darrelle Revis was lost for the year with a torn ACL in Week 3. Revis has remained mostly out of the spotlight while rehabbing his injury, but weighed in on what he's been telling his teammates behind the scenes during their recent 2-6 slide.

"Guys just need to shut up," Revis said at a public appearance for his new sneaker in New Jersey yesterday.

Via Newsday:

"Quit talking crazy to the media, especially involving your teammates," he said during the question-and-answer portion of the event. "I think that's the worst, because when you do that, that's when it really gets divided. Because you don't know if you can trust your other teammate."

Despite the team likely needing to win all five of its remaining games to have a shot at claiming one of the AFC's two wild card spots, Revis said he's been trying to get his team to focus on getting a winning streak going. That may sound like a tall order to anyone who watched the team's Thanksgiving debacle versus New England, but with all of the team's final five games coming versus teams with losing records, there's still a very small window for a turnaround.
