LAS VEGAS--In the wake of the tragic murder-suicide committed by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, numerous celebrities have weighed in with their thoughts on gun control in America.

But who better to share his thoughts than a victim of gun violence himself?

Rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, survived being shot nine times in 2000, before his career took off in the music industry.

Now a wealthy businessman and fledging boxing promoter in Las Vegas to promote his first fight -- Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Michael Farenas on the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez IV undercard on Saturday -- Jackson has a remarkably different perspective on guns. He shared his thoughts on the hot-button issue with USA TODAY Sports.

"I think (the situation) is terrible, but how do you create the solution when people are making profits off of manufacturing and selling (guns)?" Jackson said.

"No one is using (guns) that is actually making them. That's the bigger issue and the bigger problem, so you should concentrate on that actual area and the individual situations because (talking about it) doesn't resolve anything."
