The Carolina Panthers take part in a 2008 coin toss

The Carolina Panthers fought the law of probabilities and the law of probabilities won.

After losing its first 13 coin tosses of 2012, the Panthers finally won a flip before Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. The odds of losing 13 straight was 1 in 8,192.

Twelve of Carolina's losses came on the pregame flip. One came in overtime.

The good fortune helped. Cam Newton led the Panthers down the field on the opening drive to take a 7-0 lead over the NFC South champs.
