Danny Amendola accidentally spiked a ball into an usher's face, breaks his glasses (GIF)

Danny Amendola's spike was on its way to the older gentleman's face

Of the two party fouls you could have called on Danny Amendola's enthusiastic touchdown spike, the fact that he did it with a 33-13 deficit to the Minnesota Vikings wasn't his most egregious. Normally, celebrating like you just tied up the NFC Championship in a game where your playoff-hunting team is getting run out of the building is -- how do I put this? -- uncouth. But that was nothing compared to Amendola's other error.

For, you see, the St. Louis Rams wide receiver spiked the ball directly into the face of an usher standing in the back of the end zone. The ball ricocheted off the turf at the Edward Jones Dome and knocked the glasses off the older man. Throwing the ball directly at his nose wouldn't have produced more solid contact.

The man appeared hurt, or even cut, and buried his face into his hands as Amendola celebrated with him teammates.

Then again, maybe the spike created a spark. The Rams quickly scored another touchdown to cut Minnesota's lead to 11 with seven minutes remaining. When Amendola caught a two-point conversion after the score, he appeared to reward the usher he spiked by handing him that ball. Problem was, he gave it to a ballboy that was about 30 years younger.

Three strikes, Danny.
