Mike D'Antoni helps foil Knicks play for Lakers (VIDEO)

The Los Angeles Lakers haven't met expectations under new coach Mike D'Antoni.

Nothing a little on-court assistance can't fix.

D'Antoni found himself a little too close to the action at the end of the third quarter of Tuesday's Lakers-New York Knicks game at Staples Center. As Knicks point guard Raymond Felton chased after a ball seemingly headed out of bounds, D'Antoni nearly fell over avoiding touching it.

The slide move was pretty nifty for a guy coming off reconstructive knee surgery. But the Knicks were unhappy because the ball appears to never actually go out, but D'Antoni kept the referee from being able to see that.

It helped, though. The Lakers won 100-94 to reach .500 for the first time this month.

D'Antoni spent his morning news conference praising Felton and the Knicks, so perhaps he felt it necessary to show his team how to defend the point guard.
