Lottery madness! Could this Mega Millions number help you score the next jackpot?

Did March madness come to America's two biggest lotteries?

No. 23 worn by Michael Jordan, a star in multiple NCAA Tournaments and the NBA, and LeBron James, the NBA's scoring champion, appeared poised to be a winner soon in both the Powerball or Mega Millions. It hadn't rolled out in months in either lottery.

So the answer to the original question: yes and no.

No. 23 won in Monday night's Powerball drawing, but no one had all of the other five numbers, so that $865 million jackpot rolled over to tonight. And on Tuesday night, one player in New Jersey won the $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot without No. 23.

So with the Mega Millions jackpot back at $20 million, any "will it or won't it" interest around No. 23 has likely dissipated. And of course, No. 23 could be stuck in the Mega Millions machine for months to come, too.

Of course, the odds are impossibly high to win either jackpot, not to mention both lotteries: 1 in 302.6 million for the Mega Millions and 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball.

And even if the yellow 23 Mega Millions ball rolls out Friday night, you'll need to pick the five other white numbers correctly out of a pool of 70 balls. That said, you'd win your money back if you pick 23 and it's a winner.

How the Mega Millions and Powerball numbers compare

Of the two 23s, the Mega Millions number has been by the far the most reclusive: It hasn't rolled out in nearly a year. That's more than five months longer than Powerball No. 23 had gone. But, Powerball drawings are also held more frequently. These are the Powerball and Mega Millions numbers that haven't won recently:
