Robin recs trailers for 'Poughkeepsie' and 'Hot Winter Kisses'

Robin Covington, Special for USA TODAY

Hello, friends!

My house looks like a Macy's window decorator on crack was set loose. White twinkle lights and garland are everywhere and I finally succumbed to the kiddos' pleas and let them have a Christmas tree with colored lights (I'm strictly a white-light girl) on their side of the house. It is the perfect place for me to happily complete my current work-in-progress, overdose on a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie marathon, or to read a good book next to the fire with a hot chocolate at hand. I recently finished New York Christmas by RJ Scott, and it really put me in the Christmas spirit.

My first trailer really grabbed me. Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia is a book about a homeless man and an average girl. A moment of courage brings them together, and the bond between them strengthens day by day, until they are called to make the ultimate sacrifice. The images and the music (by Ron Pope) grabbed me right away, and after watching the trailer twice through, I downloaded the book to my Kindle.

I love a romance novel that takes the stories I love and puts a twist on them. Hot Winter Kisses by JoAnne Kenrick features one of my faves – an Irish setting at Christmas – and add the component of the May/December romance. In this one it isn't some older, experienced man leading the way, but the heroine is the older one of the pair. Love it!

Remember: You can refer book trailers for a feature spot in the column. They need to be romances (any genre is OK), and I will take a look. You can send your suggestions to robin@robincovingtonromance.com.

See you next Thursday!
