On the best of 2012 list: Shana Galen, Kresley Cole

Joyce Lamb, USA TODAY

Here are more of your favorite romance authors' favorite books of 2012. And if you missed the first best-of-2012 posts, you'll find links at the bottom.

HEA will be posting authors' picks for 2012 a couple more times this year — and look for HEA's 2012 favorites on Monday. (At times, authors are going to gush about a book that might not have come out in 2012, and I've made the executive decision that that's OK.)

(Authors are listed with the title of their recent or upcoming book.)

Shona Husk, For the Love of a Goblin Warrior

  • The Rogue Pirate's Bride by Shana Galen. Romance, action, adventure and pirates.
  • Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. Emotional and riveting.
  • Midnight (Dark Age Dawning #2) by Ellen Connor. My favorite of the series. Grim yet hopeful.

Micah Persell, Of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

  • Shadow's Claim by Kresley Cole. Great love scenes, Kresley's amazing voice, drool-worthy hero.
  • True Colors by Joyce Lamb. Super evil villain, unique paranormal element, crackling chemistry between hero/heroine.
  • Wrath by Laurann Dohner. Wounded hero, quirky heroine, sex so hot it burns the retinas.

Ruth Axtell, Her Good Name

  • Blue Skies Tomorrow by Sarah Sundin. Poignant, heartbreaking and heartwarming. Makes World War II come alive.
  • Bees in the Butterfly Garden by Maureen Lang. Takes historical romance to literary levels.
  • Flight of Fancy by Laurie Alice Eakes. An up-and-coming important new voice in Regency romance.
  • A Love Surrendered by Julie Lessman. Lessman's prose is rich as cream, her characters vivid and oh, so human.
