1. Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard (Henry Holt, $28, non-fiction, on sale Oct. 2)
What it's about: O'Reilly and his co-author take on the 1963 assassination of President Kennedy – a favorite topic of conspiracy theorists for nearly 50 years.
The buzz: Can O'Reilly replicate the success of last year's blockbuster Killing Lincoln? That non-fiction account made it to No. 3 on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list, and it's been a stalwart on the list for 52 weeks and counting.
2. Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story by Arnold Schwarzenegger (Simon & Schuster, $35, non-fiction, on sale Oct. 1)
What it's about: The bodybuilder- turned- movie star- turned governor had plenty to work with when he sat down to write his memoir – including the scandal that broke up his marriage to Maria Shriver.
The buzz: The newsiest bits of this embargoed book may already have leaked out, as Schwarzenegger revealed how Shriver confronted him about fathering a child with their housekeeper.
3. Live by Night by Dennis Lehane (William Morrow, $27.99, fiction, on sale Oct. 2)
What it's about: Set during Prohibition, Lehane's sequel to The Given Day follows the rise of mobster Joe Coughlin, son of a Boston police captain.
The buzz: Warner Bros. has already snapped up film rights, with Leonardo DiCaprio (Shutter Island) attached to star.
4. The Round House by Louise Erdrich (Harper, $27.99, fiction, on sale Oct. 2)
What it's about: When a woman is attacked on a North Dakota reservation, her 13-year-old son, frustrated by the official investigation, sets out with his friends to get to the truth.
The buzz: It's an Indie Next Pick for October, recommended by independent booksellers. "Compelling and immediate, The Round House is a mesmerizing book," says Jenny Lyons of The King's English Bookshop in Salt Lake City.
5. The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe (Knopf, $25, non-fiction, on sale Oct.2)
What it's about: The author and his accomplished mother bond over books as she faces death from pancreatic cancer at age 73.
The buzz: Says Publishers Weekly, "This is an astonishing, pertinent, and wonderfully welcome work."
