Book buzz: Rowling reigns, Bill Walton to write memoir

Here's a look at what's buzzing in the books world today:

Rowling reigns: The mega-selling author of Harry Potter is officially back on top. J.K. Rowling's The Casual Vacancy will land on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list at No. 1 Thursday. Publisher Little, Brown announced the book sold 375,000 copies in all formats in its first six days on sale.

Bill Walton book: The basketball great will recount his career and recovery from a collapsed spine that left him barely able to move in a memoir, Back From The Dead, out next fall.

Martin Amis: "A novelist doesn't blame his characters, he just tries to make them intelligible." Amis discusses his antihero-centered novels, influences and writing process with The New York Times Arts Beat. And read a review of his newest book, Lionel Asbo.

Teenage memoirs: Zest books will publish a line of non-fiction books for teenagers, including Dear Teen Me: Authors Write Letters to Their Teen Selves.

Star Wars Reads Day: May the force of reading be with you, Star Wars fans. On Saturday, bookstores and libraries across the U.S. will team up with publishers for a day of Star Wars-themed literary celebrations.
