Aaron Sorkin is one of the most famous writers in Hollywood, so you're probably familiar with his TV resume:

  • Sports Night

  • The West Wing

  • Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

  • Newsroom (which just began its third and final season)

He even has signature "Sorkinisms":

So it's rather surprising that Aaron Sorkin sort of announced he's retiring from TV. Here's what he told the LA Times in May, before handing in his final Newsroom scripts:
"I know the whole 'Never say never' stuff ... But I'm pretty certain I'm about to write my last three episodes of television."
Really?
"Yeah. And I want to be really clear about this. Really clear about this, I've loved every minute I've spent in television. And I've had much more failure, as traditionally measured, than success in television. I've done four shows, and only one of them was the 'West Wing.'"
Sorkin said his decision to have the third season of Newsroom be the final one, was a matter of "knowing when to put the crayons down."

But Sorkin said all that back in May. When asked again, recently, whether he was still set on leaving TV, he said:
"All these months later, I still don't see another series in my near future. But, again, you never know. Maybe I'll get another idea."
Meanwhile, there's talk about staging Sorkin's play-turned-movie, A Few Good Men, for live telecast on NBC. We're not sure if that counts as more TV writing.
