The 5 most shocking moments in 'The Walking Dead' midseason finale

Kelly Lawler

Spoiler alert! The following contains major spoilers from the midseason finale of The Walking Dead

Well that just happened. The Walking Dead ended the stellar first half of its fifth season with an episode that was everything we hoped it would be. There were zombie fights, new revelations and now one of our survivors is no more (sob). Let's look back at the five biggest moments of the episode:

MORE: The Walking Dead Facebook page totally spoiled a bunch of fans for the finale

5. "You can't go back, Bob"

Pro tip: If Rick Grimes tells you to stop running, you better stop running. The fate of the police officer who attempted to escape last week was sealed quickly, when Rick gunned him down as he tried to run away. The mercy that Daryl brought out in Rick in last week's episode is gone. This cop attacked Sasha, so he had to die. We're not sure what this means for Rick and the gang going forward, but we're pretty sure it's going to come up again.

4. That's a handy fire truck ...

So seriously, what is up with Father Gabriel? After crawling outside the church the poor (pathetic?) Father gets attacked by a herd of walkers, causing Michonne and Carl to open the church, let the zombies in and then lock them in there. But before too long they're busting out of their makeshift church-prison. Don't worry though, that fire truck Sgt. Abraham and friends nabbed a few episodes back has finally come in handy. Although I think we all should have started worrying when Michonne came straight out and said "Beth's alive." That sealed the poor younger Greene's fate right there.

3. Dawn's eyes? They're crazy

To stop a potential mutiny, Dawn and Beth kill one of of the hospital cops together. It's a pretty intense moment made all the more intense by Dawn's INSANELY CRAZY eyes. Like, those were the craziest eyes we've ever seen. We should have known she would do something else crazy later.

2. See ya, Beth

Maggie is officially the last member of the Greene family left. When Dawn demanded Noah be given back to her during the prisoner exchange, Beth ran up to say goodbye to her friend, but also her enemy. Only she actually planned on stabbing Dawn with the scissors she had hidden away in her cast. But before Beth could really even try, Dawn shot her in the head, and before she could even try to explain, Daryl shot Dawn. We have to say, we're pretty devastated. Beth helmed the best episode of the show so far and was quickly becoming one of our favorite characters. RIP, Beth. At least you never became a walker.

1. Morgan's back (again)!

Morgan, the man Rick meets in the very first episode of the series, is back again. After we caught a quick glimpse of him in the season premiere, not too far behind our survivors, we seem him again in a new post-credits scene (watch above in case you turned off the TV too soon). This time Morgan makes it all the way to the church, where he picks up the map Sgt. Abraham left for Rick. Upon reading the words "Rick Grimes," Morgan's eyes get wide. Did he know who he was following? What's he going to do now? What brought him to the church if it wasn't Rick?

We have too many questions, too many feels and the midseason premiere (in February) is way too far away.
