Green Day cancels 2012 dates, postpones tour

• Green Day has canceled the rest of the band's 2012 dates
• They've also postponed all January and February dates
• Singer Billie Joe Armstrong is in rehab

Green Day dealt another blow to fans, announcing that the band is canceling the rest of its 2012 dates, and pushing January and February dates back. The band had already canceled a handful of shows in the wake of singer Billie Joe Armstrong's stint in rehab. New dates are expected to be announced shortly and refunds will be issued for 2012 shows.

"Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern," said bassist Mike Dirnt in a news release.

"We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can't wait to see you all again soon."

But fans can get their fix with the third album of the band's trilogy, Tre!, which has moved up to a Dec. 11 release date from Jan. 15.

"We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned," adds drummer Tré Cool in the statement. "If we couldn't be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing."
