Is Natalie Portman's new ad misleading?

  • Natalie Portman's new Diorshow mascara ad banned in the U.K.

She's smoldering and sultry in an ad for Dior's Diorshow mascara.

But does the look Natalie Portman promote appear to be real and attainable?

According to the U.K.'s Advertising Standards Agency, that would be a resounding no. The group banned the ad in the U.K. because it might promote unreal expectations of what a regular consumer could achieve by using the mascara in question, according to New York magazine.

The ad in question can be seen here.

Apparently the ASA thought the image was fine, but could lead buyers to think that they could look like Oscar winner Portman by using it. To which we say, sacre bleu.

As for Portman, she and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, and their son, Aleph, have been spotted in Austin, where she's shooting the new Terrence Malick movie.
