Arnold Schwarzenegger to star as Conan again

USATODAY
  • Film is slated for 2014
  • Arnold would return in the role that launched him to action-star fame
  • Conan would be nearing the end of his life in the film

Yes, he'll be back — as Conan the mythic barbarian.

Deadline.com reports that Universal Pictures has cut a deal for The Legend Of Conan, an action film slated for 2014 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role that launched his movie career in 1982.

The film will be produced by Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan, who credits include the last four Fast And The Furious films.

You may recall that Arnold starred in two Conan films before moving on to Terminator and other blockbusters as he rose to action star fame before his move into politics.

Last year, Millennium Films revived the Conan concept in a film that starred Jason Momoa, but it didn't take off.

Now, Malmberg tells Deadline, "The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make. It's that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he'll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle."
