Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell expecting first child

• The couple have been dating since 2007
• Baby No. 1 is due in the spring

The Parenthood star is becoming a parent.

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell are due to have their first child this spring, Shepard's rep, Adam Kersh, confirms to USA TODAY's Andrea Mandell.

"They're so excited — they're both ecstatic. They can't wait to become parents," a friend of the couple tells People. "Kristen had a little bit of morning sickness early on but she just started shooting the second season of House of Lies and is feeling great now."

Bell, 32, and Shepard, 37, started dating in 2007 and have been engaged for nearly three years. The couple have said that they don't intend to make their union official until same-sex couples can legally marry in California.

In fact, they don't want any of the typical pomp and circumstance that go along with saying "I do."

"We're not having a wedding," Shepard told USA TODAY back in August, while promoting their joint film, Hit and Run.

"I don't want another day where I get dressed up and wear makeup and celebrate myself," Bell explained. "We really don't want any attention for it."
