- Celebs relay their shock, horror at the tragedy
When the grim news hit Twitter on Friday that Duchess Kate's hospital nurse reportedly took her own life after being crank-called by two Australian DJs pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles, #RIPJacintha began gaining steam on the social platform, and celebs reacted quickly.
"This is terrible," tweeted model Coco Rocha.
"TRAGIC STORY TODAY," tweeted Carson Daily, retweeting a story by NBC News.
"Kate Middleton nurse found dead after prank call...apparent suicide. Just awful. What a horrible story," tweeted Maria Menounos.
British illusionist Derren Brown had a different take from across the pond. "Mm. Yesterday derision & so little sympathy here for the nurse," he tweeted. "Today nothing but. (& a few of course presuming sinister royal conspiracy.)"
Meanwhile, Piers Morgan seemed to have the shock jocks' back. "The dumb Aussie DJs' prank was silly, but they clearly never expected to be taken seriously, let alone possibly cause someone's suicide," he tweeted.
At a luncheon in Hollywood for March of Dimes, Alyson Hannigan was shocked to hear the news. "What?" she said. "Oh my god. That is horrific."
