Tara Lipinski, Johnny Weir join NBC Derby team

You loved them at the Olympics. And even more at the Oscars.

And never mind the horse race, NBC is adding Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski to its Kentucky Derby telecast as fashion correspondents.

The two figure skaters, who were the breakout stars of NBC's Sochi Olympics broadcast team, will comment on the parade of outfits — and hats, of course —- worn by the rich and celebrity-filled mint julep-sipping audience, the network announced Tuesday.

AP reports that NBC has enlisted the Weir-Lipinski team to appeal to the viewers. Last year, slightly more than half of NBC's Derby viewers were women.
