Celeb superlatives: Jon Cryer, Jason Biggs, JLo

USA TODAY's Haley Blum digs through the latest celebrity news for highlights ... and lowlights. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if Jon Cryer and Emma Watson were classmates.

Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen in "Two and a Half Men."

Best reason to keep distance from Charlie Sheen: Jon Cryer

Cryer and Sheen once were the stars of CBS's hit comedy Two and a Half Men, but after Sheen's bizarre 2011 meltdown and his subsequent departure from the show, things are complicated between the two actors. "It's like having an addict in your family. You keep hoping. I know the depth of him is a really good guy. The guy who was sober for six years," Cryer recently told Larry King. "When you're friends with Charlie Sheen, you need to decide how much of that you can have in your life. I wouldn't say we're not friends. … I can't really have him in my life." As for a possible Sheen return for the series' upcoming finale? "I don't know. The amount of bridges that would have to be repaired to do that? I don't know if they're reparable."

Jennifer Lopez calls her split with Ben Affleck her first case of real heartache.

Best reflection on breakups and Bennifer: Jennifer Lopez

Even though she recently went to see ex-fiancé Ben Affleck's hit movie Gone Girl like it was no big deal, Lopez told Maria Shriver this week in an interview for Today that their breakup wasn't easy to get over. "It was probably my first big heartbreak," she said, and then explained how her now-ex husband Marc Anthony swooped right in. "To have one of my best friends who I'd known for years who I actually love and did have chemistry with come into my life and say, 'I'm here.' What you need to know is, nobody can save you or heal you. Only you can do that for you."

Jason Biggs thanked TMZ for helping him and his wife track down their lost dog.

Most unexpected 'Wait, what?' move: Jason Biggs thanks TMZ

It's not every day a celebrity goes out of his or her way to say anything positive about the Hollywood gossip site, not to mention expressing sincere gratitude for something it did. But Orange Is the New Black actor Biggs tweeted his thanks to Harvey Levin & Co. after TMZ and other news sites helped spread the word about Biggs' lost dog, which ran away on Halloween night. The actor posted photos of the adorable pup on Twitter and enlisted his followers to help bring her home. A woman found and returned the dog the next day, and Biggs wrote "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU" to his followers and gave a shout out to the site. "No, my account wasn't hacked. I did in fact just thank @TMZ," he clarified. Never thought we'd see the day.

Katherine Heigl has premature celebration over her new show's ratings "win."

Best response after being called rude (over and over and over again): Katherine Heigl

It's no secret that some people in Hollywood have found Heigl a bit, um, difficult to work with. Take Shonda Rhimes, Scandal showrunner and Heigl's former boss on Grey's Anatomy, who has recently said as much. In a Facebook Q&A last weekend, the actress explained herself after a user commented that she'd "heard rumors" that Heigl is rude. "Yeah, I've heard those too," Heigl wrote. "Honestly, I don't think I am…nothing makes me more uncomfortable than confrontation or hurting someone's feelings and I would never, ever actively do so on purpose. Of course just like any human being I've made mistakes and unwittingly or carelessly spoken or acted but I always try to make any wrong right." Regardless of what happened in the past, we hope that's truly her M.O. now.

Driving 'Fancy' cars: Iggy Azalea in 'Fast & Furious 7.'

Most likely to make us nervous about Iggy Azalea in 'Fast & Furious 7': Iggy Azalea talking about 'Fast & Furious 7'

Of course, we already know she's so fancy, but can the Australian rapper act? Azalea makes a cameo in the upcoming installment of the racing franchise, and she recently told Access Hollywood more details about the role."I thought that I was just going to have to wave the flag (in my scene) and then I came (to set) and I got a car and I got some lines and then (my character is) friends with Vin." But she's making us a little wary. "I'm still scared of acting," she added. "It makes me very nervous because I don't want to be one of those artists that exerts themselves and they don't do a good job. I don't want to do that, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have an amazing time on set. … It's really fun to play a character." We're not totally sure this is going to work out well, but we hope Azalea proves us wrong!

Watson: Comforted by her Harry Potter family after the death of her pet hamster as a kid.

Best inclusion of a hamster in an acceptance speech: Emma Watson

The actress dedicated her Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year to her late hamster, Millie — and the reason she did is quite touching. Watson, who grew up on the set of the Harry Potter films, illustrated how "the British film industry hasn't just been a workplace for me" and how "it's been the place that I grew up, it's been a surrogate family, really," by telling an anecdote about set decorators who comforted her when Millie died during the filming of the first movie. They built a small coffin and a little placard. "Rest in peace, Millie. This one's for you." (And for those crew members, too.)
