'Harry Potter' actor David Ryall dies

British actor David Ryall.

British actor David Ryall has died, according to multiple reports. He was 79.

The veteran of film, TV and theater played Elphias Doge in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows film. His character was a Ministry of Magic jurist and friend of Albus Dumbledore.

Ryall's five-decade career also included the film The Elephant Man in 1980 and Around the World in 80 Days in 2004.

Among his more recent work was playing Old Bert in the TV series The Village.

And he was also known for playing Frank — the grandfather who suffers from dementia — in the BBC comedy Outnumbered.

Varietyreports that Ryall is survived by his son, music manager Jonathan Ryall, and two daughters, singer Imogen Ryall and actress Charlie Ryall.
