Judd Apatow bashes Bill Cosby, Canada venues

Bill Cosby was maybe thinking the holidays would be a good time for his sexual assault scandal to quietly die down.

But no.

Judd Apatow is keeping it alive.

The outspoken film director has taken to Twitter to raise questions about the legendary comedian who has been accused by some 20 women of drugging and/or raping them in past incidents. He says Cosby "shouldn't perform." And that "guys who rape a lot aren't cool." He is shaming Canada venues for not canceling Cosby shows.

Cosby has urged journalists to approach the stories with a "neutral mind" but otherwise has not spoken about specific allegations.

Apatow started his rant the day after Christmas calling out concert venues in Canada for not canceling Cosby shows. He is set to perform Jan. 7 in Kitchener's Centre in the Square and Jan. 8 in London's Budweiser Gardens. He is also scheduled to perform at Hamilton Place in Hamilton on Jan. 9. All are in Ontario.

The Star reports that the Square had said in an earlier statement that the show will not be canceled because the venue is "contractually obligated to move forward with the show."

One group has issued a call to boycott the London show. "To have him appear in public is inconsistent with the values of London," Megan Walker, executive director of the London Abused Women's Centre, tells The Globe and Mail. "We need to stand on the side of women who have the courage to come forward, instead of Mr. Cosby."

Apatow tweeted with fans in a conversation, at one point saying he was pretty sure he has had sex with fewer people than Cosby has been accused of raping.

Cosby has comedy show dates booked through March in Canada and the USA.
