The death of Prince, Day 4: More tributes roll in

Prince tributes continue to roll in days after the musician died unexpectedly Thursday,

Sunday marks four days of mourning Prince, who was cremated and celebrated in a private ceremony Saturday. Overnight, more high-profile tributes to the legendary musician rolled in (times are approximate):

10:51 p.m. ET Sunday: Sales of Prince's music catalog continue to climb. In the three days since the music icon's death, he has sold more than 579,000 albums (both digital and physical) and 2.3 million songs, according to Nielsen Music  The biggest sellers: The Very Best of Prince hits compilation (more than 250,000 copies) and the Purple Rain soundtrack (133,000) and song (287,000).

12:30 p.m. ET Sunday: Elton John took time in the middle of his Million Dollar Piano show Saturday in Las Vegas to remember the "Purple Warrior," reports TMZ. John told the audience that he used to run into Prince at the elevators when they both stayed in Vegas. "I would get up at 8:15 to go play tennis, and he would be coming in," said John, who dedicated his next song, I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues, to Prince. "We loved you, we salute you and we're going to miss you."

At around the same time, Maya Rudolph remembered Prince at the Moontower Comedy Festival Saturday night in Austin, reports Rolling Stone. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to celebrate the one-of-a-kind, most brilliant, most special, most magical, most (explicit) incredible Prince Rogers Nelson. He was our hero. We loved him. And he has completely shaped our world. We're going to do this together, am I right?" said Rudolph, who performed as one-half of the Prince cover band Princess. The group closed the set with a 13-minute version of Purple Rain.

12:20 p.m. ET Sunday: Fans in New Orleans set a jazz funeral march in Prince's honor for Monday, AP reports. The event, which was organized on Facebook, invites mourners wearing purple to hear marching bands and see white doves released at sunset.

11:30 p.m. ET Saturday: Saturday Night Live aired a special called "Goodnight Sweet Prince" with clips of Prince's performances and sketches about the singer. An emotional Jimmy Fallon hosted the show and introduced never-before-seen footage from Prince's 2015 performance at the SNL 40 afterparty. "I held Prince's gloves," Fallon said. "It was the last time I saw him."

5:30 p.m. ET Saturday: Michael Douglas honored Prince with his attire Saturday night at Tribeca Film Festival, AP reports. The actor, who presented Prince with an Academy Award for the Purple Rain ​score in 1985, wore a purple shirt and a matching pullover sweater to promote immersive film The Bomb. "He was such a private man, protected his work so much," Douglas said. "But he was an extraordinary talent, just an extraordinary talent. I really feel a loss."
