CBS' trio of original dramas led Friday's ratings race, in typical fashion, but all were down from last fall's starts, according to preliminary Nielsen figures that will rise when subsequent DVR viewing is counted.

CSI: NY, now airing an hour earlier at 8 p.m. ET/PT, claimed 9 million viewers, a bit less than the opening for last year's casualty A Gifted Man, while newcomer Made in Jersey drew 7.7 million. Blue Bloods retained its status as the night's most-watched series with 11 million viewers at 10.

Elsewhere, ABC's Shark Tank didn't suffer from the extra competition, notching 5.9 million, about the same as last week's early premiere, and it won the 8:00 hour among younger viewers.

Against Jersey, Fox's final-season opener of Fringe (3.2 million) was flat vs. last year, losing handily to NBC's Grimm (5.3 million), which had its biggest Friday audience since January, helped by a post-Olympics warm-up run on Mondays in recent weeks. A repeat of ABC's new Thursday drama Last Resort claimed 4 million.

At 10, newsmagazines Dateline NBC (4.8 million) and 20/20 (4.2 million) were no match for Blue Bloods, with less than half its audience.
