TV tonight: 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Glee,' 'Jersey Brides'

Robert Bianco, USA TODAY
'Glee' (Fox)
  • Chandra Wilson directs tonight's 'Grey's Anatomy'
  • 'Glee' misses the mark with a 'Grease' episode
  • 'Jersey Brides' is another exploitative reality show

Grey's Anatomy
ABC, 9 ET/PT

One of TV's best actors, Chandra Wilson, turns director for tonight's outing of ABC's resurgent drama. The doctors' lawsuit over the plane crash continues, as does their painful process of recovery.

Glee
Fox, 9 ET/PT

It never pays to bet on a Glee recovery — because the moment you do, it comes up with a horrendous episode like its Grease auditions that sends its stories back into the dumpster. So Sue is mean again, the Coach is a relationship expert, and they both work at a school where students routinely and silently endure ugly rants from a kid like Kitty (who tops The Good Wife's Nick as the TV season's worst new addition). If you love Grease, you may enjoy hearing the songs tonight; if you love Rachel and Kurt, you may enjoy seeing them back in Lima. Otherwise, let the bettor beware.

Jersey Brides
TLC (10 ET/PT)

You'd think with all the money reality shows have milked from New Jersey, TLC's Cake Boss included, the onetime Learning Channel might want to do something in the wake of Sandy to give back to the state — a special on the lingering effects of the storm, perhaps, or a series designed to shed light on the best aspects of Jersey life. But no, we get Jersey Brides, a celebration, we're told, of "bling" and "booty" that kicks off with a former professional wrestler who wants a dress that accentuates her derriere. All this cultural uplift, brought to you by one of those channels free-market types told us would make PBS irrelevant.
