We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston
CBS, Friday, 10 ET/PT

It's shaping up to be a good TV weekend for music fans, starting with this CBS salute to Whitney Houston that features clips of some of her most famous TV performances. (It may not count as a "hit," but I'm happy her iconic, influential rendition of The Star Spangled Banner is included.) Among those set to take part: Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Halle Berry and Britney Spears.

American Music Awards
ABC, Sunday, 8 ET/PT

Sunday's big musical events is the American Music Awards — one of those TV-created award shows that polls people to discover their favorites (something you'd think you could discover by record sales and downloads, but never mind). At any rate, you watch the AMAs less for the winners than the performers, who are slated to include Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepsen, Psy, Ludacris, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, Kesha, Nicki Minaj, No Doubt, Pink, and Taylor Swift.

It's Christmas, Carol!
Hallmark, Sunday, 8 ET/PT

Tisn't the season, but that's not going to stop TV from rushing in with Christmas movies, with four this weekend alone. And we all know that nothing short of legal intervention is ever going to stop moviemakers from reworking Dickens' A Christmas Carol — which for this film means turning Scrooge into a hard-hearted female book publisher (Emmanuelle Vaugier) facing a ghostly visit from the publishing house's beloved late founder. On the plus side, the ghost is played by Carrie Fisher. And on the minus? It's not even Thanksgiving, people! One holiday at a time.
