Who has the inside track in 'The Voice' final 4?

• The final four sing Monday, 8 ET/PT, on NBC; three will advance to next week's finale

With four singers and two weeks left, it's almost time to crown 'The Voice' champion for Season 3. In Monday's semifinal performance show (NBC, 8 ET/PT), the remaining singers fight for three spots. Only finalists from Teams Blake Shelton and CeeLo Green remain, because this season the highest vote-getters stick around, regardless of coach — a rule changed after Season 2, says producer and host Carson Daly. Daly, who interviews the finalists on his show Last Call With Carson Daly (NBC, Tuesday, 1:35 ET/PT), helps USA TODAY size up the competition.

Terry McDermott (Team Blake), 35 , Aberdeen, Scotland (by way of Shreveport, La.)

STYLE: A Scottish rocker who's "so good in his upper registry," says Daly. "When he sings, he sounds like Braveheart."

MEMORABLE MOMENT: His stripped-down performance of I Want to Know What Love Is by Foreigner last week "was a difference-maker for Terry," says Daly. Under Blake's tutelage, the singer finally made "an emotional connection" with fans and was the No. 1 singer voted through to this round.

ON THE OTHER HAND: "I felt his stuff was dated," says Daly of the artist who sticks to classic rock hits like Rod Stewart's Stay With Me. "I wanted him to do something that would be close to what his music would sound like." His results-show duet last week with Trevin Hunte on OneRepublic's Feel Again was a good start.

IS HE THE VOICE? "I think he was one of the strongest all the way through," Daly says, so he could take it.

Trevin Hunte (Team CeeLo), 18, Queens, N.Y.

STYLE: The R&B balladeer "is like a songbird to me. He's got another gear in his vocal cord." The shy teenager has finally gained confidence as he recognizes how powerful his voice is.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: His rendition of And I'm Telling You (I'm Not Going) was "ridiculous," in a good way, last week. ( "The Jennifer Hudson song … gave me goosebumps" and earned a standing ovation from the judges.

ON THE OTHER HAND: Though the songs showed that Trevin could have fun on stage, "I didn't like Walking on Sunshine" or "the Usher song (Scream)." Those songs didn't best showcase his voice.

IS HE THE VOICE? His audition "had half of us in tears," Daly says. The moving singer "was a front-runner" from the start, but now the other semifinalists have caught up to him.

Cassadee Pope (Team Blake), 22, Los Angeles

STYLE: The former lead singer of a rock/pop band, Hey Monday, is trying for a solo career.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: Her "pop-palatable version" of Over You by Miranda Lambert, written by Lambert and Coach Blake, was a game-changer. The single made its debut at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. "We've never had that happen before on the show."

ON THE OTHER HAND: At first, "I would have never put her in the singing category of the others" left in the competition, he says "But she has literally gotten better" and has a talent for relating songs to her personal experience. "She clearly has a groove with Avril Lavigne-style songs, mixed with a little country."

IS SHE THE VOICE? Looking at iTunes download numbers alone would "reveal her to be a front-runner," Daly says.

Nicholas David (Team CeeLo), 31, Eagan, Minn

STYLE: The emotional soul singer is "unorthodox, left of center," says Daly, just like his coach. He has overcome alcohol and weight issues to get to this place.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: Last week's Somewhere Over the Rainbow was a great choice, because "America loves that song." After making the song bluesy, "he ended up charting on iTunes" top 10 singles chart.

ON THE OTHER HAND: He got extra votes for charting on iTunes, but was still the last artist voted through last week.

IS HE THE VOICE? "I am surprised" he's stayed in the game this long, Daly says. "I didn't think he'd be here in the semifinals," but I'm "proud of America." If he made it this far, who's to say he can't win?
